Tympanostomy Tubes

Last Thursday Jace went in for surgery. He had tubes put in his ears. We have been trying to avoid this. It is so sad to think of your little baby going in and being put under anesthesia. When Logan was little he would get an ear infection and the Dr would tell us that if he got another one within the next couple of months then he would need tubes. He would always make it past those couple of months (barely), and never had it done. Well, with Jace his ear infections started at 5 weeks and has continued off and on until now. He has had 8 ear infections. The last one didn't clear up. He had been on the heavy duty antibiotics and still didn't clear up. So we had to do shots. I took him him 3 days in a row for antibiotic shots, and they still didn't clear up. When we took him into the ENT they were still infected so he recommended the tubes. Poor Jace has had an ear infection since November 22nd. When he had the surgery done there was still fluid in his ear that they had to clean out. Now that he has the tubes, he honestly seems better already. He is sleeping through the night, most nights anyways. It makes me feel sorry for him that he has had such a rough year with his ears. I felt bad that he hasn't been able to sleep well for the last year, and this is all it took to make it better. We are all happy to have him feeling and sleeping better.
